Brand building is an integral aspect of business development. It not only increases the voice and awareness of a brand, but it also gives it an identity and worth. So, how do you create a brand that leaps off the screen?

In an era where more businesses “live” online, your brand is more important than ever.  People are bombarded by brands online every day.  What persuades a person to stop their scroll?  Having a clearly defined vibe is more important than ever for attracting, closing and retaining clients to your business.

Follow these steps to get to a brand that speaks for you and your business.

Get really clear on who you are

Have a brand statement.  Who do you serve?  Why do you care?  What do you actually offer?  What do you offer that is different from everyone else? In 2-3 sentences you can stand out, be firm about why you do what you do, show some personality, and clearly define your brand and who you serve.

Create a Tagline.  This is huge.  Give this some time to find something memorable that TRULY makes a statement.

Get a LOGO.  A logo is a meant to be a symbol that represents a business, organization, or individual.  Logos oftentimes convey important information about identity and what a viewer of the logo is intended to understand from looking at the design.  There are logos at every budget.  Get a LOGO for your business that aligns with your vision and your vibe.

Color palette and typography.  The colors you choose to represent your business should not only be memorable and recognizable, but they should appeal to your ideal clients and customers.  This is the personality and style of your business.  This is HUGE.

Imagery is another huge component.  Clever and unique use of imagery can have a transformative effect on a brand's impact.  Get great pictures of yourself if you are part of your brand.  This helps connect people and cement their loyalty to you.

Patterns, Textures and Surfaces.  Texture and patterns have a huge role in defining the design style of a brand.  All of these help layer your brand personality and help you separate yourself from the competition.

Spending time on this aspect of your business is initially as important as what you actually do.  This is the piece that reels people in.  A good brand can make people want to buy from you before they even know what it is that you do.  They want to be part of what you are doing.  When you get people to connect to your brand, you create a connection that is truly hard to break.  This leads to loyalty and referrals as you grow your business.
